Hello~
This my name is Asiah (pronounced like Asia). I was born and raised in good old Columbia, South Carolina. I graduated from Winthrop University in 2018 and am currently a freelancing Illustrator/ designer and working at my local library.
I have had always loved art and have been perfecting my craft as long as I can remember. In high school, I joined ALL of the art clubs and even spent a summer at PRATT in their summer painting and drawing program. At Winthrop University, I majored in Illustration and graduated top of my class.
In the Illustration department, we spent a lot of time on producing high-quality work using traditional hand skills, such as charcoal drawing, pen and ink, screen printing, painting, sculpting, letterpress and more. We illustrated large hand drawings, posters, t-shirt designs, comic books, children’s books, anatomical drawings, presentations, advertisements, product illustration, and more. We also worked with the Design department, covering Adobe Suite, Sketch, Git Hub, and some smaller programs. We designed, posters, merchandise, book covers, product design, websites and a wide variety of other things.
When I am not practicing my trade, illustrating and designing, I find myself dabbling in other creative fields, such as photography and videography, editing, animation, web and application design, music, and writing etc. When I leave my artistic space, I am usually either wasting away hours reading, watching historical documentaries, or getting lost in random research. I have an avid passion for traveling and learning about other cultures and languages. In all of these things, I am purposely exposing myself to many different peoples and perspectives. It keeps my creative work fresh and up to date with aesthetic and sociopolitical trends, on a wider scale than just the U.S. and the South East.
